Doctor Faustus Lights the Lights, by Gertrude Stein. For this immersive performance the audience sat on swivel chairs in a light-tight black paper box. Over time, the actors slowly cut through the paper, gradually allowing light to penetrate the darkness. With an original score by Eric Lindley, this sensorial pop-opera highlighted the simultaneous transformation and disorientation that technology can create.

Lily’s direction of Doctor Faustus Lights the Lights by Gertrude Stein was a revelation; one of the most exciting productions I have seen in recent memory... Moreover, the event was a thrilling sensual experience for the audience. The sound of Stein’s text was never more stirring and hallucinatory.
